For balanced proportions:
- The lampshade height should generally be approximately 55–80% of the lamp base height
- The lampshade width should typically be about twice the width of the widest part of the lamp base

If your lamp base is:
- 40cm high
The ideal lampshade height would be between 22cm–32cm, making a Medium (22cm) or Large (26cm) lampshade a suitable choice.
